In your era, what did 12-year-old girls dress like?

This is Kim Kardashian’s daughter,  North West , celebrating her 12th birthday in Los Cabos with her mom,  Kim Kardashian , along with family and friends. People lately have been getting online speaking about how Kim's daughter, who just turned 12, looks older than her age. To me, in my opinion, this is not to speak to bash or speak negatively about the young lady, but to me, she does look older for her age for how she looks, and I'm not talking about her body type or anything. People say she looks 12 and looks fine, and there are others saying she looks too grown or not how a 12-year-old girl should look. I was wondering, for people from different eras, I was wondering how girls at that age looked and dressed. Also, women here who were 12 in their time growing up, you answer what they dressed like.

Everyone dressed differently I can’t tell you that we all worse in general cuz it was all diff… I don’t think she’s wearing anything bad so bringing that attention social media is bringing on this child is unnecessary and pointless. If it was a 12yo with no curves wearing the same things no one would be saying anything. And yea she looks older but who blames her.. her mom is Kim K, her world revolves around that and to think about all the things happening with her dad, and navigating being 12 in 2025, if i put myself in her shows that baby is going through a lot and people coming online talking about her looks isn’t exactly helpful in any way. I think it’s cool to want to know how kids dressed in different eras but to center it around her is just uncalled for.

When I was 12. I think I was watching Zack and Cody and was a big Hannah Montana fan. I realised that Miley Cyrus character's and my dressing sense matched.

I would wear pretty tops like peplum tops, one off shoulder top, tops with cute prints on them and cute skirts, jeans with cute embroidery on them ( lol) and capris. We didn't wear very revealing clothes as we were more interested in looking like barbies, lol

In my days age 12 dressed like the kid in white shorts in 5th photo here. Shorts and t shirt, natural hair. These days kids go wild crazy colors pink hair blue hair even white hair! That kid north looks she is overdoing hormones... probably pressured by mom and the school counselor.

Crop tops were not worn in my generation but now it is common for age 12 and age 8. Like those belly dancers in muslim countries.

When I was in middle school in the early 1990s in Florida (12-14 years old), most girls wore short and a t-shirt almost every day with sneakers or some sort of sandals or they wore a dress.

In your era, what did 12-year-old girls dress like?

In the winter when it was colder, they would often wear long jeans with some sort of top/sweater.

12 years ago.. well I was emo at that age so I was wearing tights, baggy band shirts and skater shoes. Certainly not glitz and glammed up like many 12 year olds today. Can’t really use north west as an example because she comes from wealth and a family who prioritise cosmetic beauty over anything else.

usually skinny jeans/leggings/jeggings or a ruffled skirt paired with a tight tshirt and an abercrombie/hollister zip up tight hoodie or thin long cardigan if it's a bit colder. shoes can be low rise converse, ugg boots, hunter boots or steve madden combat boots. no makeup. for accessories might have friendship bracelets, mustache or owl jewelry something, initial necklaces, infinity scarf, fake hipster glasses or a beanie

My era isn't in any of these pictures.
But since I grew up in the hippie generation you can imagine how we dressed. Mostly hip hugger bell bottom pants.
But in my senior year in highschool "hot pants" were in style and they were very short shorts. I had some that were dressy and wore them out for school with a nice sweater and my knee high suade lace up boots.

When I was growing up, 12 year old girls usually wore dresses, with hemlines just above the knee. If they were playing outside in summer, they might wear a t-shirt top and shorts.
