I just saw a Trump supporter with a green card who has been here since age of 3 has been denied reentry into this country. Clearly, we should speak up and say “wait a minute something isn’t right here” because once you allow this sort of thing to be normalized, there is no stopping future more broad amount of individuals affected by what we are seeing.

before I am American, I am a Texan, and in this particular region of Texas... authorities do tend to ask nicely first, because this region is a very open-carry region and most people do not like to be messed with this way

That might be true for right now, but what both of you fail to realize is that these problems tend to get worse and worse over time. Steven Miller the monster in the White House has decided that in order to please Trump he has to increase and increase the number of people being deported and as a result he is pressuring the hell out of the people that work for ice to grab more and more people and send them away. There is an article on the Atlantic today where people who actually work for ice are beginning to suffer moral injury as a result of as they put it" arresting gardeners and people who haven't done anything wrong" which makes the ice people feel guilty and feel like crap. Many of them are planning to quit and I don't blame them. It has gone from arresting immigrants with a criminal record as Trump originally put it to know arresting anyone with a brown skin that they think they can get away with harassing and arresting to meet with they openly admit are quotas. You may not be part of that quota right now, but perhaps going forward all of us will be.
