Should I fix my car? Can cars last over 200,000 miles help?

I have a Jeep Patriot for 6-7 years now and has 200k miles on it. I got a new car which also has many miles but less on it. But my bill with the insurance is too costly and I need return the car to save money to move out. My parents live in a. Senior apt 1 hr away from my job & im tired of driving so far I almost crash various times. No I won’t quit my job as I hate the city my parents live at and I like my job.
my jeep needs the catalyst converter fixed, and engine oil leak, I don't know if my car will be perfect after that. I plan to stop driving to Parents house daily in the freeway and live 10 min away from work. And live my life at 28.
I want save $5k for next year buy a newer used car in cash as that’s same price I got this car for and it lasted me a long time.
I also have option live with a guy that is almost my boyfriend , but he lives 25/30 min away from my job and his city has a lot of hills and I worry if my car will give me smooth rides even if I fix it.

Get an extended warranty that covers repairs

At the last mechanic we fixed it at supsoivly he was a friend and said we have warranty but then went the car had another small issue he didn’t want fix it for free 🙁

The Jeep Patriot is not known as a vehicle that has longevity. You could fix the catalytic converter and if the oil leak is not too bad you could live with it , just keep a few quarts of oil on hand and check the oil regularly

I can’t afford pay monthly $700 for my used new car tho. I need move out of my parents senior apt so I’d rather use that money for my own studio and next year buy as as soon as I can a used new car with $5k cash.

I don't understand why you are making payments on another car when you have rhe Jeep.

it was a mistake instead of fixing my car I got this used new car. And spent my savings on the down payment for the car and it’s money wasted I cud of used that money to fix the jeep that’s it. I ended up broke spending more money as I already did 2 monthly payments of $700 . That cud of been money fix few more things and one part to save by now.

I just heard online cars don’t work after 200k miles? It has few things new replaced. Just jeeds the catalyst and engine oil leak fixed I’m getting it fixed this week.
And oil change and air cabin filters replaced but I can do that myself for free

Neevr had issues til it reached 200k. Basically just needs stuff replaced as it’s obviously worn out. It has new tires

I have had all my vehicles for over 200K. I always buy full sized American made vehicles. Most have a V-8 engine. They are very reliable and run at a lower RPM. I ended up with my mother's Ford Taurus and my kids all drove it. It had over 200K on it and when it was 20 years old I could not get it to pass inspection anymore without spending some money so i junked it.

Jeeps are ass. I've gotten all of my vehicles to 250k miles but I also know enough to not get ripped off.
