My car has less than 2k miles on it. Should I take it in for a “complimentary “ oil change at the dealership I bought it from?

No, no check engine lights or oil etc. Lights are on. Everything is perfectly fine. I was just wondering because the dealership asked me if I wanted to go in for a “complimentary” oil change tomorrow.

Can you put it off until 3000 miles? Also, when they get the car in there don;t let them talk you into any other unnecessary work.

Every 3000 to 5000 miles is when it should be changed. You really should have it changed.

Well it depends on the type of oil. But 3 months is a good rule of thumb.

That’s a waste of money. Unless you have a real delicate motor (high powered) or a very taxing drive profile (e. g. mountains) it’s enough to change the oil once a year. For someone driving 10.000 miles or less per year, even once every two years. You can check the oil quality yourself with a white paper towel.
Personally, I don’t trust American stealerships and their „offers“.

Yes! Take every free thing the dealer will do for you while you have it. It will save you a lot of trouble later when you have to pay for it yourself.
