How often do you clean out your kitchen cupboards? How about organizing the garage?

I've been home alone most of the week, so, today I started cleaning the cupboards (purely out of boredom) and I can't remember the last time I thoroughly cleaned them. They're pretty bad. The garage question is mainly directed toward the men, I'm not allowed to touch anything in our garage. He says it's an organized mess but it looks like a ordinary mess to me 🤷

I mean I don’t keep a lot in my cupboards and I don’t have a garage lol but I clean usually when I have to restock since there’s only one or two cans left and it’s nothing for me to take them out and put back afterwards.


I find I’ll get into a cleaning hyperfixation and organize everything but half way through the dopamine runs out and I’m left with a mess I have no desire to clean up but also have no choice because chances are I chose to go through the closet and dresser in my room for donations and things I don’t need or use anymore and everything happens to be on my bed and I can’t nap if the bed is occupied. Welcome to my chaos lol

I definitely feel that! When I start a project, I always ask myself, "If you start it, are you going to have enough time and energy to finish it today"? I can't go to bed if there's any type of mess.

I do clean my kitchen every single day... because I have pets, but not all of it

as for cupboards and the garage... we do live in a semi-arid region so that means a lot more dirt in the wind, lmao

so at least twice a week, gotta make sure no pharaos try to settle down here... lol

My wife is brilliant about organizing the home. She has continuously optimized the kitchen cupboards and pantry so that everything is right where you want it. She also manages the non-perishables so that we are never out of anything.

I'm good at never running out of things, just not at throwing things out. I noticed I will never use the "last" of something, like a bag of rice or noodles, I'll just open the new bag but not throw out what's left of the old bag. I'm actually ashamed of myself lol

When we open the last of something, she adds it to the shopping list, so there is always one opened and one unopened.

Where I store food: bi weekly with the fridge. The rest every 2-3 months.

I'm on top of the fridge but definitely slack with cupboards. I think I'm gonna make an effort to organize them at least every three to four months. I had spices that were solid as concrete!

Its rarely I throw anything out - most things get used, except white bread. My partner always manages to throw a slice or two in the back of the cupboard which I can't see until my bi weekly cleaning.

Usually once or twice a year depending on how bad it gets , basically when things start following out of them the second I open the door , it’s time to reorganize lol

I organize the garage just about every year. There is usually a bunch of junk that gets thrown out. I service the garage doors and make sure they are working properly. I make sure both vehicles will fit.
