What's the most physically painful thing you've ever experienced?

For me it was when I had surgery on my foot/ankle. They had to scrape away the cartilage on two bones that touched each other so that they would then fuse together. But after the operation they put me in a cast that was too tight. When my foot started to swell all that pressure didn't have anywhere to go so it was pressing on those newly scraped bones. They finally gave up on the morphine injections and figured out that they needed to remove the cast and give me a new one.

Those labor pains of childbirth start off mild and annoying, like toothaches, and then, near birth, ramp up to so painful, you think you won't be able to bear them. Then you say something Idiotic like, "I don't think I'm going to be able to DO this!"

But one things that for sure, you HAVE to do is to get that baby into the world. And afterward, you have to birth the placenta! That was a complete shock, as I never read about this ANYWHERE in those childbirth books of the day. This was nearly 30 years ago, however.

Then the second most painful thing that no childbirth book talked about: breastfeeding. First off, your nipples become sore from all the suckling that occurs every 2 to 3 hours with newborns. And during the suckling, you experience intense cramps in your uterus from it shrinking back to its pre-pregnancy size and shape.

Felt like being stabbed. Made breastfeeding miserable. I remember sweating terribly and being in pain. I lasted three weeks, then decided I couldn't take it. Bottle feeding would give me the break I needed after the birth and breastfeeding work I'd done.

Appendicitis surgery, specifically the recovery. I caught it early, well before it could burst so I went into the surgery pain-free and the month-long recovery process sucked ass. I was in too much pain to walk on the first day, you also don’t realize how much you bend forward on a regular basis until you can’t anymore. My friend’s grandmother loaned me her walker for the first week because otherwise I wasn’t able to get up or sit down or move in my own house, really. Worst pain of my life, even on the heavy meds.

slipping rib syndrome.

I woke up one morning and one of my ribs had moved in my sleep and it would poke my lung whenever I took a normal breath. Probably one of the most painful experiences I've ever had to deal with.

It hurts to sit, hurts to move, you can barely move much less sit, hurts to breath, whenever you take a breath the rib touching your lung tickles which makes you wanna laugh and cough both of which your not supposed to do it because it can puncture your lung.

So I just sat in a chair for about a month and waited for it to heal and move back into place because that's honestly all you can do.

A certain kind of flu I had back in like 2021or 2022. I have never experienced anything else so physically painful that I didn't mind dying. Even had the flu earlier this year that was nothing compared to the one I had then.

lower back pain... probably a swollen/pinched nerve did cry in silence not able to move much or at all, without feeling the most absurd pain I never ever felt... for about two/three days... lol

That looks like someone was lazy to listen to you and change it as soon as possible. Thankfully I never encountered anything that bad. The worst thing that happened to me was a really bad fever and sore throat.

Oral infection and then I had multiple organs infected at once another time. I've broken bones, did amateur mma, played football etc. The infections were by far worse.
