I drive a 1978 mgb everyday.

My infatuation with cars has come to an end. I drive a nice safe boring 5 year old white sedan. It blends into the background noise. Take it anywhere. Park it anywhere. Go unnoticed. Extremely reliable. Low cost to own both in terms of money and aggravation. 26 mpg city and 36 highway. 640 mile range on the highway. A solid transportation appliance.
I don't need a car every day, and I don't like anymore looking after them.
If I could afford one, it would be a new car, but hiring is my preferred option, and then I would have a new car with no worries about breaking down etc.
Nearly all the cars I have owned have been 10 years old, and cost me very little.
They have been brilliant cars for me, and covered thousands of miles with hardly any problems. But I've also spent a lot of time maintaining them, which I enjoyed doing. I'm sure your MGB is easy to maintain, with no special equipment needed, unlike today's latest cars.
