It's not a rattlesnake, cotton mouth, copper head or coral snake. Those are the only venomous snakes in the U. S. So whatever it is, it's non-venomous. Non-venomous snakes are docile. They'll try to get away but won't bite if you pick them up. Even if one bites, it has tiny, tiny teeth, that can't break the skin. It can't even bite hard enough to hurt. Pick it up (not behind the head). Take it outside and let it go. It didn't mean to bother you.

@jennz6 Not enough knowledge about reptiles, for me to identify, Jennz. I don't know where you live, and what snakes are native to your area, but I would be hesitant, to try to catch it and remove from your home. I have encountered Rattle snakes, here in California, and recognize them immediately. May be a common garden snake and perhaps some one with a bag or a tool to pick him up and put him back outside?

Not a good enough pic to tell definitively, other than it might be a baby as it is small compared to the tiles. The head does not look like the head of one of the dangerous breeds though.

Most likely a North American Racer. It looks like it venomous snakes have triangular heads, so this one is probably non venomous.

Looks like a water snake to me. Just grab him by the tail and throw him somewhere.

Doesn’t look like a venomous snake but I would be cautious and have animal control catch it, I think I’ve seen that near my dads in the grass, he lives in the same state as you

Probably not poisonous depending on where you live it's not a rattle snake or looks like a poisonous snake.. but it's a snake either way it doesn't belong in your house unless it's a PET
