Why do so many "car enthusiasts" hate driving?

Was at someone's tuning shop and we got into a heated debate over v8's and straight 4/6's.

Let me start off by saying. I love big ass naturally aspirated v8's. But this guy who is pushing motors to 1200 hp with turbos and whatever literally couldn't comprehend why I'd rather have a straight 4 in my celica when I could fit an ls (v8) in it.

I told him when I think of a v8, I think of high top speed and high rpm peak power. When I think of a straight engine, I think of low torque and drifting... Which is what I do lol.

He looked at me like I had three heads and told me I was wrong (which technically is true in a "the ground isn't flat because the earth is a globe" kind of way)

I guess that's why the celica and the wrx and the lancia all had v8's right? 😂

And by the way, fuck turbos: n/a or supercharged, eat my ass.

I don’t know of a single car enthusiast that hates driving. After a certain age (and family/children) most of them just no longer push it to the limit on the racetrack, etc.

That's great and all but the question is about angine choice and people only caring about numbers when a "slower" car is better to drive a lot of the time 😂

Driving can be fun at times but being stuck in traffic is very frustrating. But i can't even afford a v8 i have a 4 banger mazda but that is all i can afford but it's been reliable and im able to grow my savings instead of spending on repairs all the time.

So you want low torque or low rpm torque? V8 will always have more low end instant torque. A turbo 4 will have to get the rpms up to build up the boost to get that torque. If you're going to spend all the money building a turbo or supercharged engine, you might as well make it a turbo or supercharged V8 and get the power easier and cheaper. The 4 is going to have the high rpm power and the V8 more low RPM power

im a dumbass, I completely explained everything wrong lol. Low speed torque. As in, I can be in 2nd gear, revving in the 6k band but daily drive it below where it's easy to manage
