Son of a Gun is my favorite. When the whaling vessels would return from a voyage. the Crew's wives would often stay on board with them and generate a family. Many children were delivered by the ships doctor. Deliveries were usually performed on the Gun Deck where burning gunpowder had kept the deck relatively clean. When a male child was born, the ships doctor would announce " John, Son of Michael" proclaiming the child's given name and his fathers lineage. You might imagine many children were born without a specified father. So, the ships doctor would announce, "John, Son of a Gun.", specifying that the child's lineage was unknown.
Laddie Buck, male crewmate. Lassie Doe for a female, not necessarily a crewmate. Pirates were of multiple nationalities and you wanted to be understood and not offending.
Interesting fact You might leave port a privateer and return as a pirate. It all depended on the relationship of the nations involved.
Who DARES wake the Flying Dutchman?"
"Boooo! Prepare to be burdened with the haunting memory of my ghostly ghost pirates!"
"You give me back the sock, and I give you, three wishes."
"We have so much in common. You like teddy bears, I like teddy bears. You like ponies, I like ponies."
"You're part of my crew now, and our job is to sail around and frighten people. It'll be grueling, mind-numbing, and repetitive. Just like... daytime television."
"Aye, but it's based on a real treasure."
"So, you two scalawags dug up my treasure, did you?"
Anything from Black Sails. I dearly adore that show.
Found this searching the shows quotes. It is unrelated, but describes the euphoria of reading pretty damn well. And taps pirates.
Get this bleeding parrot off my shoulder.

Sailing the seas I always liked how pirates would look through their spyglass & say Land Ho & when they got to land I’m sure they enjoyed the land ho’s as well.

That really exists? I thought my friend was joking!
I like shiver me timbers.
When the seas were rough enough that would actually cause the ships ribs to quake under stress
PITTSBURGH Pirates legendary Major League Baseball Hall Of Fame right-fielder Roberto Clemente, aware of the discrimination suffered by him and other black Latinos in the 1950's and 1960's (he played from 1954 to 1972, and is the only MLBer with EXACTLY 3,000 hits), said "The fact that I'm a black Puerto Rican makes me a double n****r to many white Anglos."
