Do you look older or younger then your real age?

It's not straightforward, LOL. People guess my age at somewhere in the 40's, say 42-49. When I tell them my actual chronological age some think I'm joking. I get comments like , "you don't move or act like a 59 year old guy". I'm 6'2 and 203 lbs, 8 lbs heavier than the day I graduated from college. Genetics has graced me with a full head of dark brown hair. Zero receding hairline, so far. And therein lies the problem I think. Expectations.

I would argue I look "normal" for a 59 year old guy who has maintained his health and fitness over the years. The catch is , most guys my age in the USA started letting themselves go by age 35. By 59, lack of activity, poor eating habits, alcohol, and tobacco have taken a toll on most guys. And most guys are bald or balding by their 40's. Most guys dress like slobs. They have knee and hip and back and heart problems.

So I'm not the outlier. I do look my age. But everyone around me has gone to hell. I just look good standing next to them. Society has adjusted their standard and their expectations for "59" to a lot of men who just quit on themselves.

Most people say younger. If I ask a 6 yr old they say I look anywhere from 14 to 98 years old lol

I used to look very young. When I was 50 people told me I looked late 20s or early 30s.

After talking to someone a while they'd start to figure out that I was older by the things I said. Eventually they'd ask and were surprised.

Not long after I turned 50 it changed. I had some medical issues including very severe chronic insomnia when I'd go months at a time without sleep. That really wore me down and aged me. I know I still look young by people's reaction, but it's nothing like before.

People typically respond with shock and say they thought I was in my 30s, or occasionally my 20s (very generous😅). It’s kind of a thing in my hockey league. One guy is always dragging new players over to me and having them try to guess my age. I usually get somewhere 30-35, and that’s probably about right. Just don’t look too close or you’ll see the cracks they’re missing😂

A lady at a concert once told me her mother used to say “You have the face you deserve at 40.” Lmao, I like to think so😝

Most people say I look younger. Just about 2 months ago, there was a kid I was playing soccer with and he was like how old are you? I asked him to guess and he said 21? Lol, apparently to kids I look 10 years younger than I am. And most people guess younger as well.

It honestly mostly has to do with fitness and health. If you're unhealthy and obese, you tend to look older than you really are.

About ten years younger if I can believe people's reaction when they hear my true age. Once a woman started working in my office. I thought she was 20 years younger. When I left we somehow gave our ages. She was ten years younger, and thought we were the same age.

Depends on the people I'm around. People about 10 years older than me or more say I look like a teen, while people my age and the kids I used to work with say I look like 28. Suppose I'll never truly know.

It honestly depends on how I wear my hair and what I'm wearing. If I wear pigtails and overalls, I look a bit younger but I mostly look my age for the most part. But I still get carded so I guess I look younger sometimes.

Younger, because I’m really short. Most older people think that I’m 16-17 years old. I get many dirty looks when I’m in public with my child, they think I’m a teen mum, haha.

Younger. My family genetics, after we reach maturity, we don't visually age till we are 50... unless something like immense stress or other factors affects us.

I looked older than my friends from 7th grade until about 10 years ago, then I kind of just stopped aging and they kept getting older looking. If I cut my hair and shave, I still look the same as I did 10 years ago

Younger. I get it all the time. Having no wrinkles probably helps. My 37 year old friend was guessed as being 45 while the same gal guessed me at 32. Made my day. Having no kids probably also helps.
