7 moI choose stairs every almost every time, except when in tall buildings with like 20 floors to go up. Then I find it a bit of a waste of energy, to be tirer by the time I get to the top.
I see people who use escalators and elevators to go up very small, easily walkable distances to be lazy. Unless you're an older person or some physically disabled person, that's a part of why there are so many obese people these days. Everyone chooses the easiest route of transportation.
Back in the day without all this technology and conveniences around, everyone had to walk to get to where they want. It's a big part of why obesity rates have tripled since 1975.
I see it as a fun challenge to beat people using an escalator while I use the stairs. I see them standing and being lazy, while I'm jumping up 2 steps at a time. Stairs are also generally much less crowded. I see them as the option for people that care about their fitness and health and don't want to be like the crowd.10 Reply

7 moOmg! Never take the escalator! They are just vortexes lurking to suck people totally out of this realm of existence! Serious! Google it! People disappear on escalators all the time! It could be aliens! I have taken an escalator a couple times when I was young and reckless and foolhardy and drinking in college and realize now how fortunate and blessed I am to have escaped such a peril unscathed except for the lingering nightmares of the horrific fate that could have befallen me. Please. Heed this warning. Take the stairs.

7 moI think you mean ESCALATOR stairs. I've fallen on escalator stairs and torn up my knee. They are not preferable to regular stairs.
Escalator stairs are more slippery than regular stairs, which usually have some grit in the paint that covers them, whereas escalator stairs are shiny, metal "teeth," and part of the machine of an escalator.
20 Reply If there are moving stairs I've usually have my folding cycle with me, and there's usually a sign saying no cycles, so I use the stairs.
Otherwise why wouldn't I use the moving stairs?
With an elevator it's different, and I usually prefer the steps, unless there are many floors to climb.
10 Reply923 opinions shared on Other topic. normal you have to get every chance to exercise you can in case you're not able to get enough in that day
unless i'm in a huge hurry and then i'll walk or run up the moving escalator

7 moI assume by elevator stairs you are referring to an escalator.
I try to take regular stairs unless they are extremely long, in which case I take the escalator, most of the time walking on the left rather than standing on the right (escalator etiquette).10 Reply Depends where I have to be. Usually when it's between 1 or 3 floors up I take the stairs. If it's more levels up I usually take the elevator or elevator stairs. If it's down I always take the stairs, way quicker.
21 ReplyUsual stairs - I dont need a fitness studio. Move whenever you can. Step instead of parking in front of the fitness club helps more.
20 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Other topic. Elevator or escalator. Not having a right leg makes stairs too much effort if the building isn't burning
23 ReplyNormal, if you are trying to get somewhere and those jackwagons who just stand and don't move especially when you ask and are trying to get some where in time they are a waste of carbon.

Oh ok. All I had to go by was your profile age. 😊
But like Nicholas, I also hope you’ll feel better.
If it helps, my mom had a hip replacement many years ago and it greatly improved her quality of life. She now needs a knee replacement also but the doctors say she’s no longer eligible for those type of procedures because of her health conditions. So my advice is that if they’ll let you get one, you should. Because after some point, that option could be removed from you and then you’d be stuck with the pain.
(She does get injections done to her knees every few months that help a little with pain relief.)
7 moNormal stairs. I like walking.
Unless I'm tired that day, or it's a LOT of stairs. Then I don't mind getting a little help.

Lady if you go to enough malls - anyways - so I take the stairs or I stick to low ground malls personally as a life mantra for me - 🤭

Hell even some stadiums and some massive train stations / those escalators get scary high and scary they don't always put in guards - I know sometimes they finally do, thankfully - though usually it takes a wiser OHS soul or wiser inspection or even a incident yet thankfully I for one have always kept my feet to ground malls or I take the stairs - avoidance 😋😃

Guards ( a guardrail)
