Do you consider life a zero sum game?

I know, there is life after death. That's not what I'm talking about really. My mother just passed away and while we're working to settle her estate we're finding out things we didn't know such as the depth of some her debts. It's not that really care if I inherit anything from her estate or not. But my parents worked a lifetime for their house (the bulk of her estate) and it just annoys me that creditors and lawyers are going to feast on it. I know the lives my mother touched far outweighs anything than my parents ever accomplished in this world monetarily. It just we are conditioned to build, to strive and amass a successful life. And if everything goes according to plan (which for most people it seldom does). You can enjoy a few peaceful years. Before you get sick and die.

I think I'm just in my head because it all seems like such a waste of time and effort.

What do you think? Is life a zero sum game to you?
