I have learned when to be a good listener and when I should talk.

Sometimes people just need someone to listen to them without offering unsolicited advice or trying to tell them what they need to do. Just listen without interrupting them. Make good eye contact with them so they get a sense that they have your full attention.

I have learned to ask first if they want to hear my opinion, if they want my advice, and/or if they need my help with a situation, or did they just want me to listen to them.

When or if they have given me permission to do anything, then I am a good talker.

Generally people like listening to me when I am speaking, and especially when I am telling my life's stories. My nurse is only allowed to spend an hour with me and she doesn't want to leave because she loves my stories and advice.

I guess it comes down to time and place and the situation.

I would say I'm equally as good or bad at talking and listening.

I would prefer to listen socially, because I need to make the effort to find something to talk about.

But in a long lecture I don't really listen, and I take notes to help me concentrate.

Talking is easy, anyone can fill the silence.

But really hearing someone, catching the things they don’t say out loud, and understanding where they’re coming from… that’s where the real connection happens.

So I listen more than I speak it tells me everything I need to know.

I wouldn't say I'm fully shy but there Is a huge part of me that is shy. Like when a friend lift me over his head, I would definitely be fully quiet and shy. You get me ya?
