Do you find rain relaxing or stressful?

We don't get any rain in the summer where I live in California. I always look forward to occasional showers that begin in fall. We get more rain and occasional heavy rains and lightning storms during the winter. Then back to a few refreshing showers in the spring.

I love the rain. Hearing it on the tin roofs of our front and back porches is soothing. The sound on the roof of our house when I go to bed makes me feel cozy and relaxed. And I love the smell of damp earth (petrichor).
I even like the sound of thunder.

Relaxing, but it also gives melancholic vibes. Like it's nice to sleep to the sound of rain or water in general or stay inside, but it gives melancholic vibes in the sense that it's not ideal being outside and can look kind of depressing.

Rain is only stressful if it's so heavy streets are flooded and no one can get around or it washes away seeds you've recently planted.

Otherwise, if you aren't caught in it unwares with no umbrella or raincoat, and it's been dry for awhile, it's welcome and usually beautiful.

I find rain relaxing.

The sound, the smell, the rhythm, it can calm the mind and make everything feel slower and more reflective.

Of course, if it ruins plans or causes stress in life, it can be frustrating, but on its own, it’s soothing.

This depends a lot on whether or not I have to go somewhere, or particularly if I have to drive in the rain. Here where I live, driving in the rain is not at all pleasant. If I'm having any difficulties with leaks at my house, then the rain is stressful because I have to make sure that if any water leaks, it doesn't damage anything. This was particularly true last year when I had an upstairs window leaking enough to create some problems. It's fixed now, but the fix was complicated and expensive. All that said, I like it right after it rains. When the air is clean and fresh, and the world smells great.

Very relaxing. If i can be reasonably confident that it won’t rain in my window, i’ll leave it open during a nighttime rain storm because it helps me to sleep.

In fact, youtube has black screen thunderstorm videos and livestreams that i you can put on while you sleep. I’ve used them several times to help me fall and stay asleep when i’m otherwise struggling.

There's a really sweet smell in the air after a heavy downpour. Take a walk in the woods after a rainy spell and everything seems to vibrate with new life.

I hate it though in our urban environment, as it makes traffic slow, people anxious and every intersection a new obstacle to overcome.

Often I viewed it as stressful. But when I visited New Mexico, the strangest thing happened. It would rain when it was still warm and sunny out. Whenever that happened, I threw on a bikini and went for a walk!.

Well , green , thats a fine question if im sitting home a big fire warm today and hot company , I love storms. But if its night time I have 15 minutes to get to airport and its pouring I can't see to drive so not so fond of it then

Depends on if I’m home or at work. At work, rain means I have to drive in it to do my job. At home, rain is just a pleasant background noise to what I’m doing

I love rainy weather. I run in the rain, hike in the rain, backpack in the rain, just enjoy watching and hearing it rain. It just seems like such an integral part of the planet and life.

It's nice if it's a very light to average rain and doesn't last more than a day or so. If it's gonna rain non-stop for 3 or more days, it gets very depressing and I feel like I'm locked up because I can't go anywhere because of the rain!
