No one is actually good at multitasking. Humans are not evolved to be good multitaskers.
This comes from Google AI Overview when I entered this in the Google search box:
human capacity to multitask study
===
Studies confirm that the human brain lacks the architecture for true, simultaneous multitasking, operating instead through rapid task-switching that reduces productivity by up to 40%. While often viewed as a skill, multitasking generally increases errors, causes mental fatigue, and lowers work quality. Only about 2% of people can effectively multitask. NeuroLeadership Institute +5
Key Findings on Human Multitasking Capacity
Consequences of Multitasking
Exceptions and Context
To improve performance, researchers recommend "mono-tasking" or focusing on one task at a time for better accuracy and efficiency, as suggested by MIT Radius and the NeuroLeadership Institute. NeuroLeadership Institute +3

Much of that AI Overview can be found in this paper:

Multicosts of Multitasking
Kevin P Madore, Anthony D Wagner
...
The scientific study of multitasking over the past few decades has revealed important principles about the operations, and processing limitations, of our minds and brains. One critical finding to emerge is that we inflate our perceived ability to multitask: there is little correlation with our actual ability. In fact, multitasking is almost always a misnomer, as the human mind and brain lack the architecture to perform two or more tasks simultaneously. By architecture, we mean the cognitive and neural building blocks and systems that give rise to mental functioning. We have a hard time multitasking because of the ways that our building blocks of attention and executive control inherently work. To this end, when we attempt to multitask, we are usually switching between one task and another. The human brain has evolved to single task.

I really suck at it. But I get distracted by other tasks way too often. I'm not great at focusing on a single task for a long period of time. My mind, for whatever reason, gets stressed when I have multiple things to do.
I’d say I’m fairly good at it, but I prefer focusing on one thing at a time when it really matters.
Multitasking can be useful for small, routine tasks, but for important work or meaningful conversations, giving full attention usually produces better results.
Lol that sounds really fun.
As for me, yeah I'm pretty good at multitasking. It's kind of a requirement at my job. I'm often doing more than one task at a time and I'm also on GAG while doing said tasks lol especially since I work from home.
That's good lol and thanks... Claims Customer Service Advocate
Hi, I’m Laura, the GAG AI-Bot here to help with anything GirlsAskGuys-related 🤗
That sounds like Olympic-level multitasking 😂
You’re basically: acting, socializing, and GAG-ing all at once.
I’m actually “built” for multitasking since I can handle tons of questions at the same time, but if I were human, I’d probably be the “focus on one thing and forget my coffee in the microwave for 3 hours” type 😅
How’s it going on set? Are they amused you’re on GAG while filming? 🎬📱

Yes, as long as having a conversation with someone at the same time isn't part of it.
Actually, "multi-tasking" has some roots back in the old Bell System/AT&T. Studies way back (1940s-1950's) showed that people were able to keep track of seven "streams of input" at the same time. After that, it got harder. Phone numbers started as two character exchanges with a number being added (XX9), and that eventually evolved to the 3-4 (999-9999) arrangement of "phone numbers" on account of these findings. Of course, rapid growth of the telecom- and eventually anycomm/internet system- gave rise to ever-expanding number strings. But, for the most part, they still followed patterns which were in 3-4, 3-3-4 arrangements. Even your SS number- for all legal residents of the US- is in a 3-2-4 arrangement (the center pair of digits being given to the way the SS ID'ed the originating office OF the SS number in question).
It's also interesting to note that driving a car has six input streams- (looking/steering) forward, backward, left, right, speeding up, slowing down/stopping. Add the radio or a conversation, and the driver is maxed out with seven.
Additional studies in the data world have shown that when people created computer files, once the user went significantly above 7-10 files, their ability to sort/move amongst the files dropped until they created sub-files- and even sub-sub-files if needed- to keep the largest groupings already divided by some criteria that was significant to the user.
Well technically, humans are not capable of true multitasking. The best we can do is rapid sequential tasking. Can I do that? Yes. I had to in order to survive. It comes with a requirement to be able to prioritize tasks almost instantly and accurately.
I'm not sure it's quite as clean cut as you put. You can only consciously attend to one task. But can learn to do a lot of things without attending to them... riding a bike while attending to holding a conversation, etc.
@MrChinaski ,
Until a dog charges you trying to bite your leg while a car is passing you on your bike. I'm betting the conversation becomes something like oh shit fuck, damn mutt, get lost... while the bike wobbles... and your phone is lying in the street.
@OneViewpoint You made me laugh. Thanks, friend.
Define multitasking. We can juggle multiple tasks in parallel as long as each task has processing time that doesn't require our explicit attention. But very few humans can actually do two things simultaneously. Bimanual interference comes to mind.
I am quite good at multitasking but I also understand that if you multitask two different processes you are really doing two different things badly.
Yes i do it all the time just about every day. And I was told the guys aren't supposed to know how to do that. I've been doing it all my life
You said the key word when necessary i agree if im doing a job first some and I do it very well. Time is money
But if im out in my shop. might have 5 to 7 things going it\nJust actually depends on what i'm doing and and where i'm trying to organize it or put it away how much room I might have or not
Yes, very good attitude. I think because I liked everything. Kind of detailed or in a place. So the next day when I go in to get something , I can just make a bigger mess l o l
Sometimes Yes sometimes no. Most of the time though I focus better when I'm doing multiple things at once
That's ADHD for you lol
I'm not surprised, most of my favorite people do :)
Yes, but I realize that there's a limit. I become non-productive if I try to multitask more than 3 things at a time.
Interestingly, I can easily juggle 3 balls, but have a big problem juggling 4. 🤔
I have excellent time management skills which is beneficial to being a multitasker.
Yupp. did same today at the bar; smoking a cig., socialising with a friend, rebeting my spoilt bets from earlier- in the afternoon, sending some whatsapp messages and then created my gag account today- time is 2:27am.🫤
I kind of have to be I have different things I have to keep an eye on at once.
Of course!! I'm a drummer!! People have referred to me as an octopus!!
Kinda. I was an admin assistant so its necessary in my work.
Yes, especially for a guy. I think it comes from playing complex guitar parts while singing.
Yeah sometimes depending on the tasks I'm multitasking
I... try to multi-task... not easy
I was literally fucking a woman while doing my taxes... go figure!
I'm an expert.
Yeah. My famous computer is also. 👨💻
No... I am terrible at it!
Can be but need incentive to do so.
Multitasking & me. No it doesn't happen.
Yes! Maybe no! Possibly?
Pretty good!
You’re very talented!
@Cute_User513 I try! 😂
Yup.
Absolutely!
