Her father says she has a I. Q. of 72 and she's kind of the victim here. But 72 while lower than avg. Is still considered functioning. And this case got unraveled by her being caught shoplifting. I'll be honest, I'm trying to wrap my head around this. They're calling her a predator, and I'm not saying she's not. But this isn't like a teacher molesting her students. I'm trying to understand what's driving this woman. Clearly she should be punished. But do you think she has diminished capacity? Or do you think she's just a predator with no remorse for what she's done? What say you?

Florida is the third most populous state in the US, behind California and Texas. Crazy stuff happening in California is accepted as the norm so it is not notable. When I worked in a mental hospital, many people said that patients got crazier during a full moon. When it was a full moon and a patient acted like a lunatic, those people would say, "See, there's the proof." Even if it’s true, her “diminished capacity” is irrelevant. The laws don’t say it’s okay to r*pe children if you’re a moron. It’s also impossible to prove. You can deliberately do poorly on an IQ examination and say, “See! I shouldn’t be held accountable cuz i’m just a dumb girl!”.
No court in the country would even accept that premise if the accused was male. This is yet another example of female privilege. She’ll probably get away with it too.
Did you know that there are cases in which a woman r*ped a little boy and got pregnant. Instead of using the pregnancy as hard evidence of a crime to put her in prison, the state let the woman take her underaged victim to court for child support. Multiple cases. No joke.

I'm not defending her. Even if the guys she did it with consented and they were 17 but the ID said 21, she should have known better. She would get punished nevertheless. But just for the sake of argument, how did this exactly happen?

If she has low IQ like that then it explains why, and of course it diminishes responsibility but ya know this is why mental asylums should exist and be utilized more.
Way to many people get to go around today that in the past they've been locked away or worse. So why can't we do that today but ya know a bit nicer?

Because somebody has to pay for it. And a lot of mental health is not a simple as prescribing a pill. And even if it is treated with a pill a lot of times it requires seemingly constant adjustments in that medication. Because sometimes it'll work for a while, and then it stops working. And a patient might go off the rails in between. And ALL OF THIS is assuming you can get a patient to submit the the meds and stay on them. Because a lot of those meds are horrible. And then there's the therapy option. And no two peoples trauma is the same. So not only is it like untangling a knot but all the nots are different. So at the end of the day unless you're a deeply compassionate person, it always feels like the impact you're making is minimal. I can see why so many people like @chazmatazz269 's response is, "just lock em up". Rather than TRY to get to the root of the problem. Because a lot of the time seemingly there is no fixing it.

Well it don't matter if it helps them it would be nice but the first most important part is it keeps them out of society, safe from us and themselves.
The key differences being if they do progress then possibility of release and if they don't keep them in. Instead of sending them to prison to be out in a few years to repeat their action.
It's actually a much more effective process whether one cares about being compassionate or not.

I think we need to do it a lot more, and go even further to more sane prisoners.
I do agree with capital harsh punishment but a lot of time cases can equally be solved by simply keeping them out of the way or with support. To me it really varies case by case.
