I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say, it seems like you're just saying alcoholism falls on the individual to not make that choice, which is true.

For me, I had a girlfriend who drank, we'd drink, ya know, do stuff, and the combination was crazy. But as any addict will tell you, the first time is always the best, from there, every drink is half as good as the last.

I damaged my liver badly but turned my life around and have adopted a much more positive attitude towards life. But if you're asking who's fault it is that I had such a huge alcohol problem, there's no doubt that I am the only person in the world who contributed to any of that self destruction. It wasn't my exes fault, or anyone elses, it was all me.

I caused it, I kept it going but now I've stopped it. my last drink was 41 days ago and I have no plans to drink for the foreseeable future

Nah. It is not as if one sip turns you into a raving alcoholic.

The development starts with trauma and a person finding being drunk gives them relief and numbs the pain.

I feel like it’s almost jokingly obvious that the only way to become an alcoholic is to consume alcohol. What other alternative would you suggest leads to alcoholism? Looking at liquor?

Well it’s not like you become an alcoholic by drinking grape juice, and having someone force it into your mouth doesn’t exactly make you keen on having another

In some cases, it is genetic. You don't need a drink. But, you only discover the condition after you drink. Alcoholism is like an allergy; but takes on different traits.
