No, it serves no purpose but to make that person even more arrogant if anyone tries to humble him or her.

I simply avoid that person and try not to interact with them because I am aware that they have a big ego and that they most likely suffer from narcissism. A narcissist is a very unpredictable person and I want to place as much distance between them and me.

Avoiding is the much better option as they will obviously realize that people don't like to be victims of their arrogance.

That is the much better way to make an end to that showing off rather than to want to humble that person.

Why would I want to humble them? I'm not a petty person to basically try to tear someone down that's had success just out of jealousy. If they are getting to be too much for me, I can always just ignore them or ask them to tone it down or stop.
