Have you ever bought something that broke before you even used it?

I bought this cute cats mug today, and it broke before I even used it…I know it’s nothing, but it inspired this question…🥲

About 15 years ago, I bought a used Teac open reel tape deck that had a plastic lid that went over the 10" reels, just like the kind covering a turntable. It played and recorded in both directions, had a remote control and would switch sides by itself. UPS delivered it from the eBay seller I bought it from for $1000. I went out on the front porch to get it and there was a huge hole in the box! When I opened it the rest of the way, the deck was smashed!! The plastic cover was shattered and some of the buttons and the platen couldn't even work! Shipping was $100!! I told the seller about it and we both complained to UPS and asked to return and refund it but, they said it'd cost me ANOTHER $100 to ship it back!!! The seller wouldn't give me the refund without sending it back to him. Luckily, I got a full refund except for the two extra bits I chose to keep (the remote and a digital timer).

So it happened so quickly that I didn’t even have time to understand what happened 😄
I was carrying things from my car in the garage to the kitchen, and this one fell while still wrapped in paper and broke…

I did once buy something online. Actually, since I have no credit card, I asked someone to buy it for me and I paid that person in cash before it was ordered online.

Upon receiving that item, I did assemble it, only to realize that the welding in one place was not made properly and would not hold. It is not something broken per se but a faulty manufacturing process. I can still use that item but must simply be cautious.

After complaining with the company where I ordered and providing pictures of the faulty item, I received a partial refund since it would have been much more costly to send a replacement item.

Other than that, I don't recall having had that kind of problem.

I had two cats as well, with very different personalities. One, the male cat, used to climb up my trousers by hooking his claws into the fabric. He climbed all the way up until I picked him up and held him in my arms. That was OK when he was 2 months old, kind of difficult when he was full grown.

The female cat just minded her own business.

One of them love cuddles and kisses and the other one always meows when I cuddle or kiss him but I don’t care 😄

The male one used to come and sleep on top of the bed. At times, when I woke up in the morning, he had a paw on my eyelid and was purring into my ear.

It's best to get them when they're a month or two months old.

As a kid I saw on tv that a couple bought a new tv and once they opened it it fell down a hill and broke into pieces.

a tv show called "You've been framed" used to show funny videos on tv. They sold it to them. Apparently you are paid money to send in a funny video. This was my favourite. It fell down a HUGE hill and was smashed into many many pieces when they just opened it. Lucky they video taped it to sell the video to them.
