Does life actually get better once you can drive a car?

Depends where you live. If you live in New York City owning a car is not only unnecessary, it's a pain in the ass. If you live in the suburbs or a rural area, a car is pretty much a necessity here in the USA. This country is not built for life without a car. Grocery stores and jobs are often miles from residential areas and there is virtually no public transportation. That was all by design.

I for one realise that often when it seems barriers are in my way - those barriers are vitally actually doing me favours. Barriers being a metaphorical construct here - aka *sometimes I should take a hint from the universe - I could do better*

Like saving up for a better car. That kind of thing.

It's definitely more convenient, but the cost of the car, gas, insurance, repairs sure makes you wish you could do without one sometimes.

Probably, I couldn't imagine being an adult without a car unless I lived in a really big city.

I live in a big city, but public transit is dangerous i feel way safer in a car so yes driving does make life better and safer.

I think it can get better 1ce you're out of school, hav a job n a car. Without a car it can still b bettr with the 1st two n some kind of transportation.

I agree it does. The freedom of driving a car is something I wouldn't ever give up on.

I would think so, hard to imagine being a functioning adult without one. Had my license since I was 16 and drove long before that
