So my dog likes to counter surf a lot and been trying to teach him not to. I had made bagels this morning and I just finished them and he tried to get them but I quickly pushed him away (not hard or anything) I had to act quickly but people are saying this is animal ab_se. I didn't yell or anything but now I feel bad cause I dont ever hurt my dog.
Is this true? It wasn't out of anger I just didn't want him getting my food. He does this all the time so I've been trying to train him

I love my dog so much he's helped me through so much hardship and heartache. It just makes me feel sad that to think that its abusive I wouldn't ever harm my doggie.

Bet it's a labrador. It's not abuse, but might be kinder to keep the food our of site. He's probably got it into his head that if he can see it then it's his.
He's a labradoodle, how did you know he was a lab lol well part lab. And it wasn't a hard push it was a push to just get him away from the food.
And yeah I forgot to put it in a spot where he couldn't reach. Thank you for your advice
Labs don't feel full no matter how much they eat. They're driven to eat as much as possible which is why they're notorious for stealing food.
You have to control that dog, it's as simple as that. Be strict and be consistent.
