How true is this?

At around 60,000$, a huge, american-made pick-up truck is a luxury car that basically sends the message that you're trash, especially when it's obvious that you don't really need it for your job or something else that would justify such a dumb purchase.
It's a statement for many idiots; they don't see it as the overpriced fart-machine it is, but as an ostentatious middle finger to environmental activists. 😆
For most civilized people, however, it's just a proof that one is that stupid... that he's that mad and triggered by activists that he becomes willing —in a blind rage— to allow truck dealerships to rob him of a huge part of his income, forcing him to get second mortgage on his trailer home just to pay for his ugly fucking truck and to feed it with its gargantuan fuel needs.

I wouldn't say it's a problem of car height, there are far less sedan and compact models now compared to crossover, SUV, and truck models. Big cars are what's on the market, desirable, and will continue to be. A bigger car is safer when crashing into a big car, so less people will want to drive smaller cars around ever larger cars.
Even my 2004 ford escape was tiny compared to the 2013 one. Even if I see someone, more weight takes longer to stop at any speed.
I'd say the biggest problem isn't the size of cars, but the night and day penalties if say I were to run over 2 people drunk, or shoot 2 people drunk.
In case 1, with a good lawyer I could maybe get out of it, or possibly get 2-4 years in jail or something. In the second case with all the compounding charges the death penalty isn't out of the question, 20 years seems like it would be the light side.
as funny as it is this is how our society in America became so car focused. they made pedestrian life more dangerous and even villainized them if they got hit by one in the early 20th century. it is a shame...
anyways i think we oughtta bring back smaller pickups again. most people who get them hardly even use the flatbed part they're designed for anyways. its all just for that vibe of 'i got a truck!' just more 'dickwaving' really
There are two types of parents. Those who give their children a really big vehicle to keep them safe, and those who give them a small one to make mistakes in.
(I'm aware that that's very middle-class attitude and many parents don't have the chance to gift their children such things, but I hope you know what I mean.)
Wait! Doug are you indirectly insulting my owning a big-ass Jeep Wrangler Unlimited? Because I don’t even have a dick, so what would I wave?
@CrazyGirl2 im not. some people do actually use them in a non 'show offy' kind of way... which is what i meant by 'dickwaving'
I don't think you;re one of those people
@CrazyGirl2 also i think Jeeps are not nearly as bad as these huge pickups we are talking about here. the comic is pointing fun at these big things: cdn.jdpower.com/...00%20SLT%20Crew%20Cab%20Red.jpg
The problem as the comic demonstrates is that it can be difficult to see anything that passes by that is small like a child right in front of the hood. so its dangerous and i've seen statistics in places showing fatalities involved with them more than other vehicles. I don't think your jeep has the issue these pickups have.
Yes, but as a driver, it's all of our responsibility to look to the sides and not just focused straight ahead. That way we can see if there's a child about to run out in front of us. By the way, at 30 mph for child ran out to the furthest away Blindspot, you still wouldn't be able to stop, a Ford escort from hitting the child. As to my use of the Jeep… No, obviously I don't just use it proposing, I take it off road regularly. However, when it comes to the size of my jeep and that vehicle in that picture: www.google.com/url
They're the exact same size as far as height and hood length. Which is why we have to be extra vigilant to make sure they're in our children playing on the sidewalk, or in their front yards as we're driving by. If there are, it's our duty to slow down and move more to the center of the road (in residential neighborhood, which is what we're talking about.)
Anyway… I wanted to thank you for clarifying that. I appreciate you not thinking of me as a poser.
Sincerely, Laura 🥰 🤗
@Still-alive Ignore them, best for us all.
The taller the vehicle the more blind spot the front becomes compared to a normal lower car such as, “Toyota Camry”.
@MisterWack That’s probably true, it does take a careful and attentive driver to handle something that big, and not everyone is cut out to “climb” into or out of their vehicle. But, I could PARK my Jeep ON your Toyota Camry, I mean, in a crunch! (pardon the pun) www.autoevolution.com/.../...ster-truck-83579.html
Besides… here's a sentence you will NEVER hear come out of anyone’s mouth, ever: “If you guys wanna go to the beach, I got dibs on going with Tom and his awesome Camry. You poor schmucks have to go with Jerry in his Jeep, with the roof and doors off!”. Just a thought.
Wouldn't it be safer to make the tyres higher so children pass safely under the undercarriage?
If one has had good training when learning to drive, they would learn not to "overdrive" their vision 100% of the time. They also need to avoid overdriving the "throw" of their lights at night. My wife is so short, when she drives she has to sit on a tall pillow and be extra careful.
You know vehicular manslaughter is a thing right? This comic is trying to make it sound like people haven't had to take extensive training on spacial awareness when operating a motor vehicle to even get a license and everyone got theirs from Cracker Jack boxes or something.
We're talking about America, here. You can get a licence from 15 years old in many states.
OMG! "**Some** states, especially for drivers between 16-18 years old, **may** also require completion of a driving course to ensure a comprehensive understanding of traffic regulations."

Where I live land is getting cleared left & right & developers are building housing developments on unbuildable land & when it really rains tall trucks come in handy.
Those large trucks look stupid and are dangerous as hell.
the middle of the road is no place for unattended, young children... as simple as that
yes... which is exactly why adult parenting and pet owners should supervise them
especially if there are HIGH SPEED or any ROADS nearby
False. i have driven an F-150 for almost 5 years and I have not run over any children that I know of
Umm, you know people don't just teleport in front of the truck right? 😂
Funny but it is the distance from which you can see a short person that is important.
Jesus, what type of fucking question is this?
What a retarded comic.
Just admit you can’t afford an F150.
Lol, you wish.
I like believing reality.
