1 moNooooooooooo! Summer bad. Summer hot. Summer humid. Summer bugs.
I am enjoying spring mild temps and rain. And I do love fall foliage and mild temps. But summer here in New England is a hot humid sweaty sauna that must be endured. Two showers a day.

That sounds terrible!! No beaches or rivers nearby?
- 1 mo
Oh no, we have beaches. I'm about 30 minutes away from the Atlantic ocean. But the beach I usually go to is about 1.5 hours away because it has much better surf / waves. The problem is that I can't be at the beach every day. I do have an inground pool. And I'll come back from a run or finish cutting the lawn and just flop into the pool to dump my excess body heat. But while I'm running or cutting my lawn, the humidity is just miserable.
As an example, I'm about 207 lbs (94 kg) at the moment. On my 7 mile run I can drop about 4 lbs. If I extend that to my 13 mile route, I can drop 8 lbs. That's all water weight, respiration and sweat. In metric terms, that's 1.8 kg to 3.6 kg. In terms of water volume that's roughly 2 to 4 quarts or 2 to 4 liters. And I hate being confined to my air conditioned house, LOL.
Just sitting outside in the shade, you sweat. Nothing ever dries out because of the humidity. A lot of people here don't realize it but New England is basically a temperate rain forest in summer but our precipitation in winter is snow and ice. - 1 mo
Oh. and we have beautiful crystal clear lakes in New Hampshire and Maine. But that's 4 to 5 hours away by car. I had a lakefront home in New Hampshire for a while but I sold it when I move to the Caribbean for 4 years.

I'm not the only one that lives rural it seems.
- 1 mo
Yeah, I deserve lot's of pity. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
- 1 mo
Lol!! I don't think you deserve pity. It was your decision to live there afterall!!😜
- 1 mo
I may sound like a bitchy petulant child but I love it here overall. 4 seasons. Great shoreline and beaches come with great seafood. Some beautiful crystal clear lakes. Mountains for backpacking / hiking in summer and skiing in winter. I'm fine with spring, fall, and winter. And I don't mind the heat actually. It's the humidity that sucks. You can literally feel the change in the weight of the air when you walk outside, it's noticeably harder to breathe.

This is the point I am trying to make. As much as you might complain if you live there still to this day it's because you really love it regardless.
1 moUK summers are crap, we get about a week of really good hot weather then it’s gone so yes I’m looking forward to it 🤣 I detest winter so between now and September we get some mild weather before that cold crap starts back up again.

Oh shut up you Maine-iac. Black flies and skeeters. And ME, NH are not as bad as southern New England. So I guess I can cut you some slack on that annoying happy dance.

That is so hot when I’m having my cell phone in my truck, it starts overheating even if I’m not using it, that’s how hot it is.. I want super cold air and I don’t wanna have to run my air-conditioning and spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on it

I can understand your point of view. I have to work outdoors and it would be preferable if it were cooler.
- 1 mo
Agreed. What I do enjoy about the summer months is going to the beach and swimming in the water and that gives me relief from working in the heat.

Thank you!!🙃

1 moYeah definitely. I'm not one for the cold. I just basically hibernate in winter. In the summer, I go out at least every other day, kick the ball around, hike often, and just make use of the warm weather as much as possible. I definitely get more fit in the summer. I can't help but think if I lived in a warmer climate, I'd live a healthier lifestyle consistently.
10 Reply We had more rain than usual this winter, actually starting in October last year. So yes, I look forward to bright days, more sunshine and generally higher temps.
Living in a tourist destination, it depends. Nice, warm days are great when you're on holiday and have time to spend out in the open. Warm days are not that nice when you're out working, or need to drive somewhere to see a client and can't find a decent parking space.
