When I was 26, I got handed a job with a small auto insurance company to get trained as a motor vehicle damage appraiser/adjuster. I didn't even have a college degree.

I had to cut my long, rock star hair and wear a suit but the salary was great and the benefits were amazing.

It jump started me out of my high school partying lifestyle and made me grow up.

The company was really great and treated its employees well. I wound up loving the job. Because of it, I was able to buy a condo and then sell that and buy a house.
I retired after 30 years with a pension and a bunch of money in a 401(k).

If not for that job I don't know how things would have turned out.
