Is this strong intuition, pattern recognition, or just a good eye for people?

Over a year ago, I started bartending at this new hotel. One evening there were 3 men that came and sat pretty much in front of the area where I would make my drinks. I quickly noticed 2 of the 3 men. One was being obnoxious, kind of loud, show offy, the other was rather quiet and reserved, both in there mid 40s to late maybe. And the 3rd guy just seemed like a young gentlemen tagging along.

I just felt like most eyes would be on the loud guy. But this quiet one really intrigued me…I couldn’t stop observing him and I knew I had to stop or he’ll catch on, which I think he did. He did something that I would do. Look all around the room, my surroundings, scan the room, looking at details. I do this naturally all the time.

I asked my boyfriend (and manager at the time) to ask what they did for work out of curiosity. I told him I think they’re detectives, especially the quiet one. I also wondered if I’ve met this person before. There was a familiarity feeling.

He eventually talks to them, but I could tell the obnoxious one was answering for the quiet one. So with a smile and much enthusiasm I butted in and just asked, “are you a detective?” While looking straight at the quiet one.

My goodness, from there facial expressions my smile quickly went down and realized I may have messed up. All 3 of them looked real serious for a good few seconds. They realized I was just genuinely curious and we had a good conversation out of it. My boyfriend was impressed, but quickly got a little jealous from the conversation.

How I figured out that they (I’m sure it’s just the 2 older guys) were detectives…I have no idea. When we had a chat, the quiet one mentioned there’s not a lot of women in the field. But that intuition of mine is really good.

Most times I try to make sense of things and be logical about it & sometimes I just can’t figure out how these things happen. I am naturally very intuitive, spiritual, and have seen or felt things before. Never embraced it though.

You're like me, you read people by watching them. I'm not a psychic, I just observe behavior and make educated guesses. I think I developed the skill because I've had to deal with not so great people... like a survival thing. I have a friend that's good at it and he developed it as a salesman looking for victims... he's also a theif and a con artist.

I think we all have the ability... I mean what did humans do before language, right? A lot of us just never flex that muscle (that part of the brain) and it atrophies.

I suspect you are intelligent, curious, observant, intuitive, and a people watcher. You would make a perfect detective.
