Honestly, that might be worse.

If we're living in a simulation controlled by dinosaurs, at least someone is in charge and there's a reason for all of this.

But if we're not... then we're alone in a cold, indifferent universe, and everything that's ever happened has happened without anyone watching, caring, or pulling the strings.

That sounds even scarier to me.
