A wired controller is always the way to go because with the wireless controller if your batteries go when you are playing it can cause you to lose the game.
What controller do you prefer? They both look like nice controllers.
How is your HDTV doing? Unfortunately mine is starting to go after 19 years.

Depends.
IIRC, Aftermarket controllers in the ps2 have a very slight input delay as there is an additional translation layer.
The original controllers were designed for people with smaller hands.
Pick your poison.

  I still use the originals. I think my way of holding them has slightly changed over the years. If you do use them, I suggest putting masking or electrical tape over the screw holes, as they will rub at your fingers.
