Is living in a motel actually cheaper than paying monthly rent?

I see videos on YouTube how living in a motel is cheaper but how is it cheap if let’s say rent is $1k & a motel per day is $100? I spend $200 a wk on gas to go to work that’s why I’m asking I might as well rent a motel 2-3 days and this way spend $20 all week on gas I don’t want go to my parents senior apt any more I had enough

Your question / description seems confused to me , as your predicament is more about how much you’re paying on gas , at over $800 a month , than the cost of apartment rental vs basically renting a bedroom.


Spend less time looking at you tube videos and more time finding a job with an easier commute 🤣

I can’t find new job closer to my mom’s house. I’m miserable living at my mom’s house I need rent my own place by job. I have no room at my mom’s senior apt. I have 2 years living like this I can’t be 30-35 never having my own room. My mom’s home is like a. Tiny hoarder home poor ac , I don’t feel happy excited to go home.

I’m also working on getting a promotion rn at my current job so I can’t quit. My parents don’t own a huge fancy house so I can happily stay here. I need rent my own place by my job

Did you factor in what it costs to eat out for every meal? It may be different where you are, but I would look into that part.

Most motels don't have anything to cook with especially if you are trying to find the cheapest option.

You will get a very basic room and no kitchen which is pretty rare in a motel or hotel. Trust me. I work at a hotel resort type place and we don't have them in but a few of the cottages available. Those are expensive per night.

Many hotels come with a fridge so I can easily store a chicken there $5 to eat and not spend much on food

You can't eat out or buy take out all the time.

Where are you gonna store your food and groceries?

If the room doesn't have a microwave oven, how will heat up your food?

Really no, I was homeless for a year living almost exclusively in hotels. It adds up even if you're working and making some income it's still not enough. You have to factor in food costs, room deposit, basic needs like soap, laundry, utensils etc... it's more expensive. Plus a lot of hotels are bad to tell you at a drop of a hat that you have to go with no warning at all. Really it's not worth it.

It can be, depending on the hotel. Paying off a home loan is still the cheapest option, but of course you have to secure the home loan first, which is almost impossible for many people.

Like the ones I stayed in before were like 75 a night but you risked getting robbed or worse.
