That is a very interesting thought. Astounding, really.

Rudolph Valentino was once the most famous person in the world. Everything in his world was centered around him. He could have whatever he wanted. Everyone knew who he was.

He's been dead for 100 years now, and what would he think knowing we are talking about him right now on this thing called the internet that would take at least an hour to explain. Even if we were mailing a letter that took 2 weeks to get there it would be hard for him to believe he was being talked about.

There was no TV. There were movies, which he was in, but no sound. There were no computers. There were no iPhones. He did see airplanes, and even saw them in war.

But how could he have ever thought these planes would one day knock down 2 buildings over 100 stories high, less than 100 years after he died? The tallest building in the world at that time was the Woolworth Building, half the height of the World Trade Center buildings.

Or that man would walk on the Moon. Or that we have a spaceship that has left our solar system and is 16 billion miles away from Earth and will have traveled one “light day” by the end of this year, and is still sending radio signals back to Earth, the same kind of radio signals he would have listened to crude, crude broadcasts on NBC, which has just been formed in 1926?

If you were able to get him to understand any of this, he would not believe it. And there are people on this site whose parents were alive at that time.

In the interest of supporting America I'd also like to point out that essentially all of the humanity enhancing innovations you mentioned were products of America's predominantly capitalist economy, the most innovative and life enhancing revolution in the history of the human race.

To wit, it was 57 years ago that America landed the first humans on the moon. And still to this day all 12 of the people who have ever walked on the moon are Americans.

They might wonder why we didn't take better care of our blue planet. We don't have a planet B.

They might wonder why we relied so heavily on nuclear energy and just dumped nuclear waste in the ocean or buried it deep.

Not sure about that. Every material thing humans have produced in their entire history originated from things already on planet earth, including nuclear materials. Radioactive materials existed in many places on the planet long before humans were here... as did fossil fuel materials.

Now I'll grant you that they might think that if they are ignorant of history which seems to be the case with millions of people today who "believe the science" which is actually claptrap... intentionally induced ignorance by politically evil forces.
