When is the truth too harsh to dish out?

Let's say you always tell the truth, however it doesn't "land well" with others because it's too harsh. How do you know when to soften the blow -- and how to do it without lying?

I have always been harsh. The truth is the truth and I’m not talking about “MY TRUTH OR YOUR TRUTH”. There is only THE TRUTH.
I like to bring people back into the real world and snap them out of the stupor they are in.

Perhaps guys listen to other guys more in this respect. Women dishing out the truth is sometimes not accepted (STILL). It's why I try to kind kinder ways of dispensing the truth, and yet sometimes... I don't know. Why waste the extra brain power when the message is the same.

Always tough to tell a girl she's getting too big and should hit the gym. There's no easy way to go about it because girls these days are so easily offended and most of them will hold it against you, saying it's genetic or that I'm shallow or something, when they aren't putting an ounce of effort into their fitness.

That and sex... when a girl's technique is bad, it's incredibly hard to tell them.

Same, but people don't register the truth properly unless it's presented a certain way.

I do, but it does tend to burn a bridge or two.

Sometimes, it is better to remain silent because the target of your statement will be too devastated by the truth, or may simply be too defensive if you direct a criticism at him or her.

When you’re talking about a woman’s looks and she says do you find me attractive or not. What if I don’t then what do I do?

"You have so many qualities, anyone would be lucky" is a safe truth.

OK, but that sounds like a rejection to the woman’s. Looks like she’s not attractive.

You don't want to lie, so unless you see something that you can say something positive about, that's the winner that doesn't force you to commit to her but also doesn't leave her feeling like a pos.

How about if I say, you are nice looking even though I don’t find her attractive

There isn't a way to reject a woman without actually rejecting her. Also "reject" is too harsh at the beginning of an association. You don't know each other. Just say it was nice meeting/seeing her and move along.

There is a reason for the saying "truth hurts"... I just go for the throat and say it the way it is.
