I really don't believe that this is gossiping. If someone did you wrong and it's true, why shouldn't other people know how they treated you? Why keep it a secret if they did you wrong?

I might tell someone about how my caregiver stole almost all of my belongings from me but that wouldn't make me say anything to anybody else about you!

In your case if someone you trusted outright steal something from you of course you should warn other people

Just so it doesn't happen to them

And in your case you probably wouldn't never see them again so you don't say anything

But I would have went to their employer if they had one because that person should not be working for them anymore

Intentions do not matter. It's not what one says but why they say it. And by why i do not mean the intention, but the nervous tension that the believed intention is just a random label for. So most of the time the answer is yes, if a person's gossip is driven by a tor**** of his own misunderstood feelings (usually a cycle of perceived nonexistent threat stemming from the unconscious) then he will continue to feel the need to gossip no matter the label.

Depends on the context but 90% of the time I would say that a gossiper will gossip about everyone including him or herself.
