Telling someone what people say about them negatively?

Some people think it's a "true" friend to tell someone what people say about them but I don't agree, who wants to know what kind of nasty things people say about them?

For me it depends on who the people are that are saying shit. If they are people who are supposed to be that persons friend, then I’d say something. I don’t associate myself with horrible people, so I wouldn’t be able to sit back and watch some one be treated like that by someone they know and not say anything about it. I believe they have a right to know the sort of people they are associating themselves with.

Yeah I don’t usually do that. Why would I want to tell someone I care about that someone was nasty about them? Unless I think it’s helpful to let them know (a nasty rumour) and telling them would benefit them, I keep it to myself.

Also, if someone just went around randomly telling me rude things other people had said about me, I would side eye them.
