Do you think things happen for a reason?

[Anonymous]

Or do you believe in simple chaos, shit just happens how it happens when it happens.

[Laws-Of-Existence]

The correct answer is something weird that i cannot grasp myself. Do anomalous patterns of events exist for a reason? Or are they the reason?

It's similar to the debate around consciousness. Some scientist mocks unscientific religion minded people flexing his knowledge of neurobiology, how sodium ions work to make consciousness happen. But then uses this mechanism of how it happens to avoid the question of why it happens. No shit there is electricity involved in making consciousness, but that doesn't answer why it exists. And no i do not think ancients had it all figured out either. They didn't. ㅤ

Very interesting observation indeed, cause and effect are two different things.

[MrChinaski]

Would it matter? If you sat down and explained to a cow that her entire life was the result of rising bond prices that led people to spend more on beef and so more calves to be bred, what do you think she would say? And that's the whole bloody problem. We desperately want the universe to explain itself, and it just sits there looking at us and we aren't even smart enough to know whether that's because there is no reason or because there are reasons everywhere we have absolutely no ability to comprehend.

[sage2021]

I recall saying that something happened for a reason. We might not be aware of what it is at the time, but down the road you can see why things had to happen the way that they did.

[Asker]

Yes and one should believe sometimes you'll never know but the reason remains.

[Kvass]

Nope. I think people just hate accepting that shit happens for no reason. So they call it God’s plan, karma, fate, whatever makes it easier to swallow

[Asker]

One can argue the complete opposite, to some it's easier to believe no judgement from a higher power exists, which leads to people preferring to believe it's all simple random chaos lol

[Kvass]

I hate philosophy Chico. What do you like for breakfast?

[Asker]

I normally skip breakfast lol

[Kvass]

Is that the philosopher lifestyle or are you just lazy?

[Asker]

I'm normally just dead asleep early af, but that's cause I'm up late all the time 😂

[Kvass]

Being awake all night sounds suspicious!

[Kvass]

🎶 Chico digs at midnight, says it’s just simple chaos 🎶

[MemeSupreme]

a lot of them and a lot don’t

how do you like that boring answer lol

[Asker]

It's lame lol

[queenofcardio]

I believe in fate, but my choices create my path

[Asker]

I guess it does lol

Based on what we know, things do not happen for a reason. Things happen and we attach a meaning to them, I think we are extraordinarily good at creating reasons based on what happens.
I don't see a good reason to assume that events are aimed at particular outcomes.
However, I wouldn't a 100% claim that there is no underlying purpose because we currently have no reliable way of knowing whether there is one.

[Maybe_Maybe_not]

Following what Chinaski said, I like the idea that there might be reasons everywhere we can't comprehend.

This idea would be that the apparent chaos could be explained if we could observe and understand the billions of parameters leading to any event that happens

[Paris13]

IT IS ALWAYS IN GOD'S HANDS. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

[DryGermanGuy]

Some do, some don't.

[Asker]

Indeed

[exitseven]

no, everything is just a big crap shoot.

[midnightmoon05]
