There's 3 ways to be big boned.
1: Your bones would be normal looking, but very dense and strong.
You would simply be less likely to break a bone, and weigh more than people would think.
2: Your bones will either have regular or lower density but would be thicker.
You would just look more meaty, but not fat.
These are the girls that look kinda fat even tho they're not. Its because they have big rib cages.
3: Your bones could be both, more dense, and bigger in size. You'd be heavier and bigger, still not fat tho.

lol @ bog bones, I know it's a typo. I don't think there is such a thing, your ribs just stick out a bit. My chest bone also sticks out a bit right under my neck, but it's not that I'm big boned, it's just a form of your skeleton there little we can do about it, perhaps surgery, but it doesn't bother me.
I think there is definitely such a thing as big-boned. I know some people whom are definitely not fat, as in they are lean, nothing jiggly or anything like that, and yet, they look big. Not big in the fat way (as I just stated that there was no fat on their body whatsoever), but they still looked big, and they were tall too. They just had big bone mass, possibly muscle mass too (although it didn't look like they were muscular). So yeah, there's definitely such a thing as being big-boned!
Some people do have large bones biologically... heredity stuff..so yes :)
For instance tennis players will have bigger bones in their serving arm :)
And if you think about frames some people are very tiny in frame others large.
Also bones can be very weak in a family and others strong.
I wouldn't pin your bones on your weight though more your natural frame.
Yes. The general test for this is try to wrap your fingers around your wrist. If your middle finger and thumb overlap you are small-boned. If they touch but don't overlap you are medium-boned. If they don't touch at all you are big-boned.
I don't know if your ribs sticking out is an indicator of being big boned as much it has to do with your skeletal morphology.

Yes but you could you could also just have a skinny torso while the rest of you is average. That's how it is with me. I am not big boned but my pelvic bone, ribs, spine, collar bones are very prominent even though I wouldn't consider myself skinny.
No, that's not an indication of being big boned. Its just how your ribs sit.
There is such a thing as big boned, meaning heavier/thicker bones. Your wrist measurement is a better indicator of that."Big boned" is a real thing (although some people use it as a cop-out for being in poor shape)...but in YOUR case, I think it's more of your natural bone structure.
Some people just have wider frames than others, regardless of how much fat/muscle they have around their bodies. As long as you are a healthy weight, that's what matters.
