Are hickeys "disrespectful"?

I came home with a hickey a few weeks ago and my mom freaked and told me James doesn't like me if he gave me that... is that true? I did cover it up

I think it is a bit immature but I know a few girls who do it without realizing that they are doing it... If it is done purposely for "branding" purposes then I think it is rather immature and disrespectful if you had told the person not to give you one...especially in places your clothes can't cover.

It's to show that you are spoken for. If you have a steady boyfriend that people know then it is not bad whereas if the guy was just a hookup he was probably branding you which could be seen as disrespectful

They're ugly and can be dangerous, but I don't think they're disrespectful unless you've said not to or it's somewhere you can't feasibly cover it.

Well they are bad for you actually. They lead to blood clots that can be dangerous. Sometimes they happen, but I think someone looks so much better without them.
