What is your definition of being led on?

What does it mean when someone leads you on? What does that person do? How do you avoid it?

well I think that the definition would be when someone is stringing you along, implying they like you and/or would like to become more than friends without that intention. they usually do it for forms of sex or for fun, or sometimes because they just plain don't know they're doing it. it's kinda hard to avoid it, since they would do the same things if they DID want to become more than friends, so all I can say is try to develop a tough skin, don't put all your eggs in one basket at least not before you're sure that basket isn't gonna break your eggs :/

you could also just plain out ask what their intentions are, sure it could be awkward but at least you'll know, man up and good luck :)

I did tell him that I preferred to be friends when he asked me out on a date (I said I wasn't ready) and now we text casually. I am hanging out with him in a few days. He told me to text him whenever I wanted tomorrow. I'd like to be friends, so if I texted him tomorrow and hung out with him sometime, is that leading him on?

It's when a person knows you're into them and acts like they're into you, but they have no real intentions of following through on either sex or a relationship or marriage or anything like that. The best way to avoid it is to ask that person if they ever intend to do that thing with you, and if they do not, be brave enough to break it off while you still can.

I consider that being led on. Best thing you can do to avoid it is to recognize it before you get yourself hurt. Then you stop hanging out with that person.

My definition of it is the girl does all the normal things an interested girl would do (talks with guy a lot, flirts with him, goes out with him, etc), yet when the time comes that he asks her out or to get more serious, she backs off, does a 180, and rejects him.

to give someone false hope that you will requite the feelings that they have for you; i.e. flirting with them when you don't have feelings for them. I don't flirt with people that I have no interest in which is one way to avoid it
