Why doesn't my ex want his stuff back?

We dated for almost a year and broke up a couple days after Christmas...we didn't talk for a while but we have been starting to talk again...Last night I mentioned that I had some of his things like a stuffed animal, sweatshirt, and a book of his. I told him I should probably give it back but he told me not to worry about it...Why wouldn't he want it back? It's all useful stuff (besides the stuffed animal, but he loved that thing) any advice? THANKS for any feedback! All answers are much appreciated :)

Personally, I would leave things I gave to a girlfriend because I would want them to know they were special to me even though things are over. Take it as a sign of good will, and keep them as long as they don't leave you longing for the past.

That stuff you still have would remind him of your relationship and he doesn't want those memories anymore.

Those stuff might bring back old memories so he refuses to take them back

to me, it sounds as if they really aren't important to him, and maybe they bring back memories.
