What does it mean when you smile at a guy but he looks away?

could it mean that he's shy even though he looks at you a lot? its sort of like a way to get to talk to him because he's a really shy guy... what should I do?

btw he knows that I like him and he always looks at me a lot all the time. but he dosen't want to approach to me. My friends told me that he's shy when it comes to new people. so I'm not really sure about it.

It's most likey because he's shy maybe he was surprised that you smiled at him, but all I know is if you like him you definitely need to talk to him or else you'll never know, the worst thing possible could be that he's just not interested, maybe talk to him online or at school make sure you seem welcoming when you approaching him, the best way I use to talk to guys I like is talking to mutual friends of his of make close friends, I hope everything goes well
