Why do "bad boys" like "good girls"?

I am a more introverted girl. I like art and literature and conversation with close friends but the guys that tend to try to pursue are always the opposite of me. To make it more simple, I'm a "good girl" and these guys are always more "bad" and tough. I get complimented on, hit on, asked out, and flirted with by guys who are, in general, not that great in school, don't really care about school, jocks, and have been with a few girls if not a lot. I don't understand this. If I'm a more "innocent/sweet" girl why do these guys like me?

I'm having this issue right now with this guy who is trying to pursue something with me, probably just hooking up, but he is a big football guy, has large tattoos on his arm, and macho looking. I know it's not fair to stereotype but why is a guy like him going for a quiet-independent, artsy, nerdy girl like me? We have nothing in common and nothing to talk about!

There's this sweet, shy girl that sometimes hangs out in our group that I like. She seems really nice and I like talking to her and even think that she likes me a little because the couple of times we talked I thought I sensed from her that she might have liked me.

But the thing is she's really funny because when we talk she's nice and we get along great and one time she even gave me her number (I didn't ask for it) but then when I asked her of she wanted to hang out with us a couple of times she replied in a way that made me think that she wasn't interested. Anyway my point is I've always been a bit of a shy guy when it comes to girls and didn't have much friends because nobody wanted to hang out with me but it was always me trying to hang out with people. Only in the last couple of years that I found my hobby that I'm really good at I've made friends that also want to hang out with me. So finally I don't feel like an outcast anymore but I'm still shy as far as girls go and last time I tried asking her out and failed it got me thinking that because of the people I hang out with she might be getting the impression that I would be only after her to hook up or something like that. When in fact I'm only trying to hang out with her because I like her and would like to get to know her better because she seems really nice. But again I'm afraid that if I try pursue her too much she'll get the wrong impression.

My point being maybe some of these guys might have a lot more in common with you than you might think but because you only see them interacting with other people that you don't have a lot in common it's impossible to tell.

Just a thought judging from my situation.

I don't think it's so much a matter of "bad boys going for good girls" as it is "opposites attract." I know for me and plenty of others, I'm attracted to women that are weak in my areas of strength and strong in my areas of weakness.

For instance, I'm a very outgoing, easy-going guy whose very musically and comedically inclined. However, I'm incredibly unathletic, clumsy, absent-minded, and disorganized. I've observed that I'm often emotionally drawn to women that are athletic and organized, but also shy. It's a matter of people being attracted to people who complement them. Does that make sense?

Because "bad guys" are called that usually because they like games, playing gullible girls and easily get laid. But when they see a girl that is refreshing for them. To them you have selfrespect, you're something different from what they've seen, you're a hard task. I don't say that as in necessarily meaning you're just a task to them (lol not) but from psychological point of view it must have this effect on them at first. Also girls like you are considered serious human and those type of guys enjoy being introduced to that cause it's sorta new for them (well not all but most). And of course the "opposites attract" argument as well.

Not every "bad guy" is the same. But perhaps you are really pretty, and not having been with many people, the bad guys are the one with the confidence to get with you whilst the shy guys probably feel like they don't stand a chance.

The real dirty ones though see nice girls as easy targets..

Or maybe, even bad guys want a girl who will treat them well unlike the usual bitches they go for :')

I have the same problem! I'm a virgin, and introvert as well, but I always get these gangster type guys into me. There is something that is alluring about the innocence to them, I think its an ego thing. It's like a challenge for them, and it boosts their ego if they can get a sweet girl to go bad.

Well that could be it too, of course. Everyone is an individual, and may have their own reasons. but I'm saying from my personal experience of the ones I dated (Which of course doesn't apply to everyone), once they realize they aren't getting what they want, they leave.

Many here say that they see good girls as easy targets. Girls lacking self confidence are the easy targets, they might be perceived as 'good girls' in general, they might just be 'bad girls' that didn't have the opportunity to be seen as 'bad'. If you are a girl that shows signs of self confidence and are interesting to talk to, all guys would want to approach you but only the 'bad guys' have the confidence to do so.
I'd suggest to not judge a book by the cover. If you are not offended by the way they approach you, you can be polite and firm and allow them and yourself to get to know each other or not to, whatever you decide.

Because they feel that you are an easy target to get to. And if you continue this path you will continue to attract these losers. They feel that they can control you and manipulate you and they are super sweet talkers and will promise the world. Be careful don't let them bewitch you in to thinking they right for you.

Shy girls tend to put out a vibe, that most guys tend to misread, as her not wanting to have anything to him, or worse that she flat out dislikes him. A lot of bad boys, have have more confidence to go after any girl, including ones that seem to dislike him. Also some of the bad boys, think of it as a game, to see if he has what it takes to corrupt a good girl, or to win the affections of a girl that doesn't like him.
