Has anyone ever used calamine lotion to remove scars?

One week ago,I developed pinkish and itchy rashes on my legs due to a moisturiser.I then soaked 2 towels with undiluted white vinegar and covered my legs with them to make them less itchy. I leave the towels on for one and a half hours and the rashes turned from pinkish to reddish with a little fluid trapped in them.

I have seen doctor,taken steroids and used up 2 tubes of Dermosol cream prescribed by him but still nothing works.

Now the rashes are almost as bad as the first day and I'm afraid they might leave scars.Can calamine lotion help and what is the best way to use them?Thanks so much for helping!

Calamine lotion is good for really bad sun burns because it takes the heat out of the skin. So if its heat burns you've got the calamine lotion will reduce the scarring of the burn. But not for rashes.

I really recommend Cocoa Butter.The brand I use is Palmers Cocoa Butter, I used it after I had surgery and it made a big difference, my scar now isn't noticeable anymore. Although you have to be patient, apply it 2/3 times a day, always after washing, results can be seen though in 3 weeks.

Mederma, an over-the-counter ointment. It will definitely take a while (like 6+ months) for the scar to lighten, but the results are pretty good.

Bio oil is supposed to be good, I had a friend who self harmed when she was younger and used Bio oil to help lighten the scars on her arms. It worked really well, cause they are really faint scars now. I don't know how long it takes to show a difference though.

Your welcome, I just hope the one of them works for you. They are all for sensitive skin so hopefully they won't agitate your rash or make it worse.

Hi,I'm so happy today as the rashes are 70 percent lighter when I woke up:)

Calamine lotion really works for me!I use the Guardian brand which is less drying.I saw Palmers Cocoa Butter at a shop today.It really smells nice like chocolate and I intend to use it one month later when the rashes are completely gone.How should I use it in order for it to be fully effective?Thanks again!

I'm so happy its working for you! The Palmers Vocoa Butter, I applied it twice a day, so after I had my morning shower and before I went to bed. But applying it once a day is also effective, but will take a little bit longer for you to see results. Either way, as long as you use it once or twice a day, within a month you will see a big difference, you might not even have to use it longer than a month.

Do people use cocoa butter on the face?In Singapore here,the use of cocoa butter is unheard of .I don't know why.But I keep hearing the Caucasians on the Internet say how remarkable it is:)

I've never heard of someone using it on their face, but for all I know maybe some people do. I know that you can get a cocoa butter based moisturiser, which some of my friends use, it makes their skin softer and reduce their acne scars from when they where kids.

Cocoa butter or coconut oil have personally helped me.

I've never tried Calamine.
