Has anybody ever tanned with motor oil?

Has anyone here ever tanned with motor oil? My mom mentioned it to me, and said she used to when she was young, made her really dark. So I was just wondering. If so, did it work good?

There is no safe tan. Please do not use oil of any kind to lay out and tan- the premise of using oil is that it is literally cooking your skin.

If you want to get a tan, use a gradual self tanner.

Laying out and tanning in the sun, or using a tanning bed greatly increases your risk for skin cancer. Not to mention causes premature aging. Have you seen ladies that obviously loved the sun too much when they were younger? Their skin looks leathery and gross.

Just use a gradual tanner.

I wouldn't trust a person who dared to tan with motor oil in the first place, even though you were looking for those who have. Anymore, with what we know about skin cancer, its still engrained in our society to get out and get tanned. Its daft and ill conceived to do so when there is such a risk of cancer, and when we can have a safe tan out of a bottle.

No, Personally I don't think that motor oil is very good for your skin.Tanning oil with spf factor is probably better.
