Should I travel to see him?

I met a guy abroad only for a few days and he asked to meet up later on that month as we really got on and got together once, unfortunately I couldn't make it but we still message each other fairly regularly. He then suggested that I should come visit to home country (as I have relatives in his city I could spend a while there). However, it would be a massive commitment and not sure how much he really meant it. He told me that he really liked me and I'm afraid Ill never see him again, what should I do?

its literally a different continent and would be pricey, but I want to do more travelling so I could incorporate it into my plans easily enough. I've got family there so I could stay somewhere

i would get to know more about each other, but then in then end you have to ask yourself. do I see this going long term. best thing is keep him as a pen pal and when you do start to travel and your in the area stop in and say hello for lunch. but just as friends
