Khakis may be too boring. They also really require a specific body shape. If you have nothing going on down there, like a nice butt, then they most likely won't look good on you. Unless the occasion calls for something else, you can never go wrong with jeans.

Both look fine, to me.

I prefer jeans, because I prefer a more casual, maybe even slightly messy look.

But I also love the style of Patrick Jane on The Mentalist... so I go both ways, haha!

I like a nice pair of khakis a lot more than jeans. Especially slim fit khakis and a nice t-shirt/v-neck
