Can I be admitted to the hospital for being too skinny?

I'm under 95 lbs, and I'm 5"6...Is that bad? Can they admit me?

It's possible they could. It mainly depends on the reason. Depending on what state you live in, and the certain rules they have, they can give you a mandatory 72 hour psych evaluation in a psych ward. And, if the doctor doesn't consider you to be an immediate threat you can be discharged, or they could choose to get a court order to force you to stay. Mind you, when I was admitted for an eating disorder (not sure if that's why you're too skinny), I was underage, so it could be different for an adult. And, the only adult I ever saw forced to stay at the hospital was violent toward other people, so it really depends on your state laws and whether you're an immediate threat to yourself or another person (i.e. suicide risk or homicide risk). But, like I said before, I have seen people who were forced to be hospitalized for eating disorders, but they were underage at the time. But, if you are hurting yourself, maybe being hospitalized, or at least getting therapy could help you. But, best of luck to you on whatever happens. :/

Admitted by who?

If you're under 100 lbs at that height, it's VERY unlikely it's due to a fast metabolism.

But the police won't just show up randomly and take you to rehab(if you're anorexic or bulimic)

If you're just underweight, see a doctor. Eat a high protein diet with lots of healthy fats.

Chicken, salmon, lentils, avocados, walnuts, eggs and peanut butter are all great(not mixed together)

Sure if you passed out. At the least for your height probably at least 105-110 area. Hard to say if you're naturally small. Why are you trying to go to the hospital for this, you should eat, food is well delicious.

Maybe. It depends on your overall health. If you are the girl that hasn't eaten for 5 days then they might give you an IV or something, to help get some fluids in you. You may have a serous condition that has caused you to lose your appetite. So there may be good reason to admit you into the hospital. I am not a doctor and don't know your condition. You need to see a real doctor.

Oh sweetie you need to eat. That is not good for your health at all. The police cannot just come and get your or admit you because you are too skinny, that is reserved for mental disorders such as bipolar, depression, attempted suicide or for drug addictions.

If you are a naturally skinny person who eats full and healthy meals, then they have no reason to.

But if you are struggling with an eating disorder and are severely restricting your caloric intake, then it's very much possible, especially if your body is starting to show other signs of a lack of nutrition (hair falling out, no period, etc...).

You are 20 pounds underweight for your height, age, and sex, so maybe. If you're the same girl who hasn't eaten in five days, then, depending on the state in which you live, yes they could admit you for that. I hope you read what I wrote on the other thread. I was serious.

it depends on whether or not you are anorexic or bulimic. Are you?if not, you just need to adjust your diet to take in more starches things like cereals pastries and potatoes that type of thing.

They can, yes. Police can admit you to the hospital if they feel that you are an immediate danger to yourself (you might die) but no one can make you stay at the hospital.
