Honestly, if little green men are coming to take over, we might be in trouble. But, first contact is key! We need to try understanding their motives. Maybe they just need a good cup of coffee and a crash course in human history to see we're not so bad. Plus, a united Earth showing we can work together - that's a powerful message, even across the galaxy.

They just sit back and use mass drivers to chuck large objects at earth and a high velocity, to achieve the correct level of impact force.

that is extinction level events across the globe.

low tech attacks work best, zero reason to approach earth, just let us die out and take over. Probably a year to achieve this.

As for our planet & the way it is & the way people treat it & treat others a piece of me wouldn’t want to prevent an alien invasion. But on the other hand the best prevention is early detection & as for me I would broadcast movies like Independent Day & hope our space friends are monitoring.

You can't. With that sort of technology required to travel light years to different places, we would have no hope of standing up to them.

I don't think we could. Anything that could journey here from lightyears away would have tech so advanced that we would see it as magic. We would put up a fight, but ultimately we would be conquered very quickly.
