I’d say this is probably at its peak among Americans, and it’s an important trait that sets them apart from Europeans

Around here, the streets are very active even at 9 p. m. — people of all ages are either at cafés or just walking around outside. My relatives who came from Belgium were really surprised to see this. Apparently, though, Europeans have a saying: “After 9 p. m., the only things you’ll find outside are dogs and Turks.”

If you ask me, this feels like an activity for people who have nothing better to do. Westerners really do wake up early and go to bed early, which is admirable. Arabs are more like us in this regard. But perhaps the daytime heat also has something to do with it. I don’t know about Italy and Spain, though

If you do, what do you use to tell you when to shift?
