Why would an ex make a fake account to talk over just reaching out directly?

My ex from 1.5 years ago made a fake account and messaged me, asking how I was doing. He then said he’d like to take me out sometime. I could see that the account was connected to his phone number, so I knew it was him.

My question is why wouldn’t he just reach out to me directly? Why go through the trouble of creating a fake account?

He’s the one who blocked me, so it’s not like I ever closed the door on him contacting me

Honestly, I think the fake account probably says more about his hesitation than anything else. He may have wanted to see how you would respond without having to put himself out there directly.

Since he was the one who blocked you, contacting you normally might have felt awkward or embarrassing. A fake account gives him a little bit of distance and lets him test the waters first. If you responded badly, he could disappear without having to deal with the rejection.

It could also mean he was curious about you again, missed you, or wanted to know whether you were still open to him. But I wouldn’t automatically assume it means he wants to get back together.

Personally, I’d be more interested in why he felt he needed to hide rather than the fact that he reached out. If he genuinely wants to see you, he can eventually be honest and contact you as himself.

Shame maybe. Maybe he thinks once you start to like him you will find him attractive again. However most likely it's just satisfaction of his ego to prove himself that he could successfully approach you and from his perspective he won a game you didn't even play.

No idea. He could have just unblocked you. You blocking him would be a logical reason to do that, but obviously it's the other way around.

Why? Because he wants to talk to you badly and wants you back. You should not talk to him that’s crazy for him to make another account just to talk to you
