Would you let your husband/boyfriend impregnate another woman?

This is kind of a complicated question, but I will try to make it as simple as possible.

My wife and I have been together for ten years (married for four), and have two children together. My wife's best friend, whom she's know since they were very little, has recently confided to us that her own husband is unable to father children. This is a result of complications that he suffered from testicular cancer a few years ago, unfortunately.

The two of them want a child very badly, and so their only logical choices are either via a donor or adoption. They would prefer not to adopt, as my wife's friend would at least like the child to biologically be hers. Anyway, it came up in conversation that she would really like to find a donor like me, because of my physical and intellectual attributes.

The two of them got on the subject of donors and sperm banks, and eventually her friend (jokingly?) suggested that I "donate for a good cause." My wife surprised me by not shooting down the idea, and even mentioned that it would be something she might be willing to consider, provided all four of us were alright with the idea, but only because the two of them are like sisters. Her friend actually really likes the idea, especially now that my wife has said that.

I'm not entirely against the idea, although it is something that will require a tremendous amount of thought. The particulars haven't been discussed, and I am assuming that they would just need me to donate in a cup, or something. The question title may be misleading, because I don't think anyone expects me to actually have sex with her.

I am just wondering how other women would have responded in this situation. Is it something you would even consider, knowing that it's your absolute best friend? How would you feel knowing that your best friend would be raising a child that is your husband's, biologically?
