I don't actually give it a thought, for living in New York City anything goes... Believe me, I've seen it all, bubble_tea.
However, having given your pix some thought, I am thinking right now: "He is just being helpful carrying things she may find are heavy while walking." If you're like my mom, you have a Perfect Purse that carries everything from soup to nuts. These are things she doesn't want to leave home without. I have even heard her tell me her shoulder hurts.
Also many times, I see guys, maybe Gay, maybe just class act, carry 'European bags' on their shoulders. That's Actually an eye opener, but again, not unusual.
Now, that's 'Cute ' and maybe Uncanny for some. I wonder as I also sit and ponder, why no one has ever Asked That Question in reference to: When you see a man carrying An-------All purpose purse?:)) xx

What does an 'European bag' look like? something like this www.jadicted.com/.../the_hangover15.jpg ? I have no idea what they look like, and I live in Europe lol

It is rather uncommon where I live, but on vacation in East Asia, I see it everywhere. Guys even ask the girls for their very girly looking small handbags. It's refreshing to know that it's not just an "east Asian custom", but there are guys doing it all over the world despite being called "whipped" or "well-trained" by "alpha" wannabes.

Do you mean messenger bags? www.nylonbagshop.com/.../...senger-bag-for-men.jpg
I think 50% of the guys over here carry them.
These lh3.ggpht.com/.../...ntracte_galerie_principal.jpg are not so popular, but I've definitely seen men walking around with these.

      yeah, Switzerland actually.

She's not an invalid nor is she and old lady. She can carry her own purse. I wouldn't want a guy carrying my purse for me. Now, if I needed to sign something or pick up a child or whatever and I needed him to hold it for a few minutes, then fine. BUT, I have managed to hold mine all on my own for my entire life while doing everything else.

He is just a gentleman. No need to over think. Sometimes I really get tired. Shopping bags, purse can be very heavy. It would be sweet if my partner helped. That is it. On a regular day, I can carry my own purse. I would not ask for it.

most 'manly man' in here will tell you that its unmanly to do such a thing.

but as a married man who has sex with his wife every night even after 10 plus years...

    trust me... its manly.

but i can't say its cute cuz i'm a guy.. but yeah nothing wrong with it at all :D

yes, cute is maybe the wrong word. but it's sweet, because he wants to help his woman or protect her from possible muggers. I agree his laissez-faire attitude is manly too, because in my opinion a manly man doesn't care what society says is manly, he just is.

It's part of being a gentleman and taking care of your woman. I don't want her to have carry her purse when she could be holding onto me. Also, it will make a mugger think twice about taking a purse from me rather than her.

Thank you :) I am quite surprised how many guys think it means that the guy is whipped or is not in control of the relationship. You can be an alpha male while not being a jerk, especially to those who mean the most to you.

You are? I'm not lol. There are many of these "alpha" wannabes where I live. I'm more surprised that there are women out there who do absolutely not want their handbags to be carried by their someone. I mean I would understand if they said "If I paid for that LV/Hermes bag, I'm going to be the one carrying it." but the reason is more like "I'm not invalid, I am strong". o_O

Well some guys will do it just to be nice.
Others will do it to be nice hoping it will increase the future excitement of their gfs.
Some just see it as bf duty.
But many who do it are getting laid.

As long as she's not trampling over him and expecting him to be at her beck and call and submissive, I'm all for it.

    Not cute.
If she didn't want to carry a purse why would she bring one then?
If I'm wearing a dress and I don't have a matching bag or don't feel like carrying a bag I normally just put my ID and credit card I'm my bfs wallet.
